Want to know the inspiration behind Mediterranean twist? Well if I am being honest, it's because I wanted to learn how to cook! In 2012, I was getting married and realized that I didn't have many middle eastern recipes under my belt. I LOVED our middle eastern dishes growing up, but the idea of having to cook something that would take hours just didn't sound appealing to me. Also, both my husband and I were crazy into fitness and wanted to continue eating healthy and nutritious meals. The Mediterranean Diet is known to be one of the healthiest diets in the world. I started asking family members questions on how they make their traditional dishes. What I realized was that everyone had their twist! I started cooking and trying out tips and tricks my aunts would give me. It didn't take long before I realized that I needed to create a space for everyone to share! Here I am, many years later, and my husband and I are finally creating a platform to build our community! (Took us a little time, well, because we've been busy raising 3 rambunctious young boys!)
“Mediterranean Twist” is a modern take on traditional Mediterranean recipes.
The word “Mediterranean” refers to Middle Eastern countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Egypt etc., as well as Southern Europe; Spain, France, Italy, etc., and Northern African such as Morocco and Tunisia among many others.
My husband and I wanted to create a website where we could share our Middle Eastern recipes with our own personal twist. All of the recipes have been created in our kitchen. Of course we love and appreciate all traditional Mediterranean recipes, but we want to offer our own healthy, simple, and modern day twist. As busy parents we're always looking for a quick, healthy and easy recipe. Our hope is that we build a community that will share their creative recipes and enjoy cooking together as much as we do! We look to feeding our kids nutritious, and delicious foods that remind us of our upbringing of sitting together and sharing food at the table.
All of the Mediterranean twist recipes have been tagged with our name, Rose Chamaa and Gilbert Chamaa. We take all of the pictures and videos on the site unless otherwise noted. We invite our community to comment and share your recipes with your own personal twist.
Let’s cook together ❤️
